Helping Women Move from Dependency to Self-Sufficiency

In just a moment's time, a woman may find her life has changed through a

·         Loss of Job

·         Loss of Spouse

·         Disability or Illness

Or may be realizing she's not qualified for a job that would provide for her (and/or her children.).

All of these changes are overwhelming. For some these are not changes, but a way of life handed down through generations.

The feeling of hopelessness sets in, and there seems to be no way to change. Escape from hopelessness can be difficult?but not impossible.  She needs encouragement, direction, and support.  She needs to provide for herself and her family through self-sufficiency.  Most importantly she needs to experience God's love, grace and forgiveness.

CWJC provides hope to women who are seeking true success.  CWJC provides a place where women can learn their true value and self-worth in a non-judgmental and encouraging environment.  Through CWJC they will learn how to provide for themselves without having to rely on resources from government and other agencies.  By this accomplishment, women are taking responsibility for their lives and breaking the cycle of poverty in their family.

CWJC ministers to women in need with a hand up, not a handout.  CWJC provides a variety of life skills, job skills training, Bible study and a Christian woman to be her mentor.

Our Mission

Christian Women's Job Corps of Greater Baytown, exists to minister to women in need with a hand up, not a hand out. Women are provided life skills, job skills training, mentoring and Bible study in an encouraging environment to move toward independence.

Statement of Faith

We believe in the Trinity, God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Bible as the Word of God.  Salvation comes through grace by believing in Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God, our Savior and Lord. Once saved, the Holy Spirit indwells, thereby instructing, guiding, and empowering the individual to follow the mandate of Jesus Christ in daily living.  Christian Women's Job Corps, is a response to this mandate.

Networking Baytown Resources

Christian Women's Job Corps of Greater Baytown® actively seeks to partner with area agencies to provide a comprehensive approach to meeting students' needs.  Some of those agencies are: Love, Inc., Pregnancy Resource Centers, New Horizon's Women's Shelter, Bay Area Homeless Shelter, Bay Area Resource Center, welfare, other government agencies, as well as churches and ministries.

Nationally Recognized

In May 1997, Christian Women's Job Corps® (national organization) was recognized by the White House as a viable program for assisting women in the transition from welfare to work.

Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) was named as one of the eighteen founders of the Vice President's Welfare to Work Coalition to Sustain Success.

History of CWJC of Greater Baytown

The first semester began in March 2004 and was housed at Eastside/Fellowship Church.  In July 2006, Memorial Baptist Church invited the center to move to one of their facilities located at 206 N. Whiting which provided more space for the growing ministry.

In 2007, CWJC received an award to begin a long-term transitional housing ministry from Perpetual Help Home in Victoria, Texas. A home was leased in December 2007 to begin this vital need for area women.
